African Luba Headrest
Hand-carved African ceremonial headrest attributed to the Luba people of the Democratic Republic of Congo, mid-20th century. The sculpture features a stylized man figure with traditional geometric scarification patterns and an elongated neck, characteristic of Central African tribal art. Originally used to support the head during sleep while preserving elaborate hairstyles, headrests also symbolized prestige, ancestry, and spiritual protection. Beautiful aged patina and expressive craftsmanship make this piece a striking collectible and decorative object.
