Kuba Tukula Wooden Box

Authentic hand-carved wooden box from the Kuba people of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Traditionally used for storing tukula — a fine cosmetic powder made from sandalwood — these decorative containers were valued for both their functionality and artistic craftsmanship.

The box features intricate geometric carvings characteristic of Kuba design, often combined with expressive anthropomorphic details such as carved facial motifs. Crafted from wood with a fitted lid and traditional woven cord elements, this piece reflects the rich artistic heritage and symbolic visual language of Central African culture.

A striking decorative and collectible object full of texture, history, and artisan character.
